Even though I learned about the Ballet Beautiful workout through the Instagram of Victoria’s Secret models, I am a realist and recognize that this is not the only way these women get their Victoria’s Secret bodies (I am sure hours and hours of workouts plus lots of green smoothies and good genes are required for a Victoria’s Secret body). I still wanted to see what this ballet workout is all about. Although I am sure no one underestimates the skill of a ballerina, I overestimated my ability to easily get through the Ballet Beautiful videos.
Mary Hellen Bowers, ballerina and founder of Ballet Beautiful, has a calming voice and graceful manner that puts you at ease when the video starts. It is her ability to go through the workout with this consistent manner that reveals her true strength, while on the other end of the screen my muscles are burning. I like that the movements are low impact while targeting the muscle groups, and a lot of the moves do not require additional equipment. I particularly like this fifteen minute arm combo that I will do when I am busy, would like to add an extra element to a regular workout, or I am traveling. Plus it is easier to set a fitness goal that is basically finish this sequence without your muscles throbbing in pain.
Also, who would not want to pretend to be an elegant ballerina while becoming stronger and leaner at the same time. You can stream the workout here, and even buy a leotard while you are at it to make the workout more authentic. 😉

Foam roller and water bottle on hand for my sore and weak muscles.
